This town is named after its founder Chintamani Rao, a maratha Chieftain.it is located at a distance of about 75 Km away from Bangalore is amidst hills.It is famous for its gold and silver trade and its agarbathi(incense) industry.Another thing Chintamani is famous is "Fried Groundnuts". One of the oldest dargahs in Karnataka, the Murugmulla Dargah of Fakhi Shah Wali about 8 Kms from Chintamani,Kaiwara,and Varadaraja Temple draws thousands of pilgrims.

• We are very happy to intimate the citizens of Chintamani city that our ULB  computerizes the collection of Property Tax and issuing of Property Tax extract (Form-3).

•  Birth and Death certificates from 1997 to till date under state Government Nirmala Nagar computerization scheme, issuing  certificates by paying service fee. Citizens are requested to make use of this facility.

•  Solid Waste Management in 4 wards has been outsourced.  Citizens has to pay user charges as per the MSW-rules for door-to-door collections.
